Open call for printers and illustrators – Surfers Against Sewage X Common Sense Studio
Surfers Against Sewage are working in collaboration with Common Sense Studio and are launching a new open call for all artists/illustrators to submit artwork to be a limited-edition print for 2020.
This amazing project will then announce 20 winning artworks
selected from all submissions that will form part of a screen printed exhibition
of artworks held at Ocean Studios, Plymouth in December 2019. The 20 selected
screen prints will also be part of an online selling/fundraising auction.
From the 20 shortlisted artworks an overall winner will be
announced and that print will be used as an SAS official print for next year.
THEME.
The theme is capturing and communicating the amazing work and
inspiring ethos of Surfers Against Sewage over 3 decades.
SUBMISSIONS.
Submissions for this open call are initially digital. These can be
uploaded once a donation of £5 is made via the Common Sense website. This £5
goes towards all the amazing work done by SAS.
Submissions selected by the panel for the final exhibition will be
supplied by the artist as a screen print and exhibited as A2.
You can only use up to 2 colours in your final
submission.
You will be entering for selection to the online auction,
exhibition and official artwork for SAS.
The artwork designed must be able to be printed on paper and
textile, so think about that when you are creating your submission.
IMPORTANT
SUBMISSION INFORMATION.
To complete your submission to the Open Call, you must upload your
artwork through the details emailed to you after donating. For us to be able to
enter your submission, your submission-file must comply to the following, :

Format: Please ensure that all file uploads are in PDF, Jpeg or
PNG format.

Named correctly: We need to organise and display work correctly.
Your filename should be in the following format
[yourname].[piecetitle].sas-cs-submission.jpg*
*If your file is a pdf or a png, you will need to use the correct extension instead of .jpg

File size: Please ensure your file is less than 10MB is file size.
Dimensions should be no less than 4000 pixels in width at a resolution of 72dpi

Donation amount: Please ensure you have donated a minimum of
£5.00. Submissions with donations under this amount will not be forwarded to
the panel but the donation will still go to Surfers Against Sewage
VERY IMPORTANT INFO!
If you are one of the 20 selected for the exhibition, your artwork
must be presented as a screen
print (2 colours max). If you do not have access to a print
studio, Common Sense print studio in Plymouth will allow any selected artist
1day FREE studio
access to print their submission, subject to availability.

GUIDELINES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

There is a registration fee of £5 which is donated to SAS to
support their great work
·
The artist will get 50% of all sales from the online auction, all
other proceeds goes to SAS excluding postage and admin costs.

The overall winner from the selected 20 will donate the copyright
of the artwork to Surfers Against Sewage, which will go to their great cause in
saving the planet!

Your work must be new and original for this submission
·
All participants must be of 16 years or older at the time of
submission of entries.
·
Entries can be made by an individual or collective.
·
Due to the high number of applications expected, we will be unable
to respond to unsuccessful candidates.
·
If your artwork is selected you are responsible for supplying
Common Sense Studio with your original screen print artwork in accordance to
the install of the show at Ocean Studios.
·
Common Sense Studio can provide 1 day FREE print studio access to
any selected artists/illustrator to print their selected artwork ready for the
exhibition.
·
Not included are inks, screens and any other materials.
·
Artwork/images supplied to us for this open call may be used for
publicity purposes, you will always be credited by Common Sense Studio if we
use your image.
