Location

Devon Mind, Plymouth. Currently remote due to Covid, but this is a Plymouth based role with requirement to travel to wider Devon as needed. Some EU travel may be required.


Hours

20 or 22.5 hours/week worked over 3 days.

Main Purpose

To support the delivery, monitoring, and reporting of the EU Interreg Speed-You-Up project.

Summary Overview


Students and NEET young people, Professionals and Educators work on Employability and Entrepreneurial skills in the battle against school Dropout and Youth UnemPloyment (Speed-You-Up). This project runs from 01.01.2020 to 30.06.2022 and is funded by the EU Interreg 2Seas Programme.


Devon Mind is one of 13 partners across the Two Seas Region (UK, Belgium, Netherlands, and France) on the Speed-You-Up project and aims to work with young people from two target groups:


  1. young people in schools (at risk of becoming NEETs);

  2. young people in our community who are currently NEETs. 



The overall objectives of this project are to:


  1. increase the number of at-risk NEETs in schools who stay in education, training, or more on to (self) employment;

  2. increase the number of young people who NEETS who return to education, training or (self) employment.


From 01.01.2020, the partners have worked on setting up all the resources and tools for the project that will be used to support young people to develop employability and entrepreneurial skills. We are now looking to deliver this to young people in our communities.



Main Duties and Responsibilities


With the support of the SYU team the role in brief is to:


  • Promote the project to schools and the wider community.

  • Deliver the Speed You Up course to young people in schools who are at risk of becoming NEET as the young people become ‘social media consultants’ as they work voluntarily and help small businesses with their social media marketing. 

  • Deliver the Speed You Up course to young people who are NEET as the young people become ‘social media consultants’ as they work voluntarily and help small businesses with their social media marketing. 

  • Conduct school and community registrations, maintain records and look after the administration outputs of the project. 

  • Support teachers, facilitators, and community groups as they deliver the SYU course and support them to monitor outcomes, keep and maintain records.

  • Support the schools and community groups and help deliver the project session (if required)

  • Support the schools and community groups to identify and liaise with external stakeholders (e.g. local businesses) to gain their support for project activities.

  • Attend project meetings when required (locally, UK or EU).

  • Support the promotion of the project through social media and the website.


ADMIN 

  • Receive and disseminate any communication about the project.

  • Take minutes during internal project meetings.

  • Assisting in the preparation of reports of the project activities.

  • Ensuring all relevant documentation is complete and properly archived.

  • Ensure project deadlines are met and reported on.

  • Ensure project deadlines are met.

  • Develop materials and resources to a high standard as required by the project.

  • Create and upload website and social media content as required for the project.


Other Specific Duties



  • Act as an ambassador for Devon Mind at external events, meetings, and other appropriate fora.  

  • Represent Devon Mind at external events when required.

  • Commit to and undertake regular training sessions to extend and update own knowledge of health and wellbeing issues and attend a safeguarding course.

A full clean driving licence, and access to own transport, is required for this role.

PGCE, Level 3 Award in Education and Training, Youth Work or other training qualification.

Experience

Interest in or experience of delivering workshops/sessions/working with young people.

Experience of paid or voluntary work in:

  • organising and running workshops and larger events.

  • gathering and collating data.

  • of preparing resources and materials to a high standard.

  • using videoconferencing platforms such as Teams, Zoom, Skype.

Experience of communicating with and engaging stakeholders across different types of organisations and communities. 

A project assistant role.

Knowledge & Understanding
